A yantra, in the Indian tradition, is literally a "device" for spiritual advancement, a symbol used for contemplation in meditation, being considered that the focus on this symbol, opens the mind to the spiritual plane, when it is silent.

Sri Yantra is, in fact, the central object of worship in Indian worship, but in addition to its specific context, Sri Yantra incorporates deep philosophical understandings that make it a powerful source of inspiration.

Each design element of Sri Yantra has a special philosophical meaning. The point in the very center is representative of the Source of the universe; this point, or bindu, is the "singularity" from which all manifest reality emerges. From a point of view, design is representative of the evolution of the universe itself since its mysterious beginnings, mapping its various levels.

Sri Yantra in its central portion contains nine triangles. Four of them point upward and represent the unmanifested power of the universe; it is beyond our everyday sensory perceptions; they are considered masculine and represent the masculine aspect of divinity.

The five triangles pointing downwards represent the divine feminine and the manifest aspects of the world.

Thus, Sri Yantra forms Unity, the divine masculine and the divine feminine in an embrace. The notion of integration of body, mind and spirit is symbolized and indicated by Sri Yantra.
