Taurus is a constellation of the Zodiac. The genitive, used to form star names, is Tauri.
 
 The most brilliant of them are: Aldebarã, Alfa of Taurus; Alnath, the Beta of the Bull; and Hyadum I, the Bull Range. Next to the Tit of Taurus there is also a famous nebula, the Cancer Nebula.
 The Taurus is also notable for having two beautiful star clusters: the Híades and the Pleiades.
 
 The neighboring constellations, according to modern borders, are: the Coachman, the Perseus, the Aries, the Whale, the Eridanus, the Orion and the Gemini.
 
 In Greek myth, the Taurus represents the animal Zeus turned into to seduce Europa, a Phoenician princess. The representation is formed only by the head, shoulders and forelimbs of the bovine. In Greek literature it was called "The Bust", also representing the king of the gods in the form of a bull when he kidnapped Europa, with his posterior part submerged by the waves. The stars are represented as a bull in an attack position, with its horns lowered.
 
 In ancient Egypt, the two star clusters in the Taurus constellation, the Hyades and the Pleiades, were associated with the arrival of the rains.
