In Greek mythology, ScorpiO is the scorpion that killed Orion. The scorpion was the animal sent by the goddess Gaia to face the hunter Orion, who boasted of being able to defeat any animal on the face of the Earth. However, the giant Scorpion managed to sting Orionite, causing his death. According to this legend, the hunter would have been resurrected by Asclepius (represented in the sky by the constellation Ophiuchus - The serpentarium), due to his unusual knowledge of medicine.
 
 Associating the legend with the celestial representation of these characters, the Scorpion is located, in the sky, under Asclepius' foot, as if he were being crushed or trapped by him. In addition, Oriones and Scorpio are at opposite points in the sky, so that when one of these constellations "is born", the other "sets", as if both would continue an impossible and mutual pursuit.
 
 It is a beautiful constellation of the Zodiac, full of bright stars and rich star fields.
 
 The pattern is unmistakable: the hideous animal in the sky, "walking" slowly through the night, seems to overcome the condition of a mere constellation (the word "constellation" etymologically means "state of the sky") suggesting a real entity moving stealthily between the stars, with their tweezers and stings ready to hit a victim.
 
 The constellation of Scorpio was identified as such by the Greeks, but also by the Egyptians and Persians. The Egyptian origin refers to the droughts that devastated the Nile region, since at that time the sun passed through this constellation. Antares, Scorpio's brightest star, was considered one of the "guardians" of the sky according to the Persians.
