The Aquarius constellation dates from Babylonian times and is opportunely located in the sky, not far from the constellation Golfinho, the constellation Rio, the sea serpent and a fish. This region of the sky is known as Sea or Water.
 
 There are many mythological associations for this constellation, sometimes appearing identified with Zeus, pouring the waters of life from the heavens.
 
 One of the legends associated with this constellation is related to the water bearer Ganymede. It is said that he was a young shepherd, very polite, gentle and so beautiful that the gods themselves admired him. Thus, he was given ambrosia, the nectar of the gods, in order to make him immortal.
 
 One day, while guarding the flock and playing with his dog, Argos, Ganymede was kidnapped by the Eagle, a giant eagle from Zeus, who took him to the temple of the gods, where he would become the favorite water bearer of all the gods. Ganymede's sensibility was very evident when he asked Zeus to let him help the people of Earth, during a walk with the Eagle. Zeus, who was not usually very generous, accepted Ganymede's request. The latter realized that sending a large amount of water to Earth at the same time could become dangerous, so he decided to send it in the form of rain. Hence the young pastor is known today as the god of rain.
 
 But his father, King Trós, missed Ganymede more and more, and not even all the valuable gifts sent by Zeus could appease such longing. Thus, Zeus placed Ganymede in heaven so that his father could see him every night.
